Uncovering Vintage Treasures at Sharjah Gold Souk

If you're anything like me, you love the drama of silver with gemstones over gold bling.

Sharjah Gold Souk is one of my favorite places in this Emirate.

Also known as the Blue Souk owing to its beautiful Persian-inspired architecture, the market is split into two buildings. One side houses rows and rows of gold stores, but I belong to the other side, one floor up.

Here you will find a treasure trove of antique finds, beautiful Pashminas & Persian carpets, and vintage silver vendors who also stick arrays of semi-precious and valuable gemstones.

Looking for a one-of-a-kind statement necklace? Check out the gorgeous vintage Afghani pieces I saw below. Very Iris Apfel I'd say!

I also loved the array of prayer beads in every size and color:

Best of all, skilled craftsmen will create a mix of beads and silver, customized to your tastes. One tip would be to bargain. Haggle till you get the best price and don't be shy to look up similar stores first.

Very influenced by Iris Apfel and the pic of her and her long strand of chunky red beads, I got myself a long strand of red amber beads with antique silver pieces infused in between. The necklace goes right down to my belly button!

I also got a chunky statement necklace made of vintage silver beads and large turquoise nuggets:

Like?! I love it :-)
